Grace Scarves - Handmade & Dyed with Grace & Love from Upcycled T-Shirts

Rethreaded started with a simple idea, and a strong passion from it’s founder Kristin Keen. Beginning by forming relationships with women on the street and making prison visits, she knew the biggest need was for a safe, supportive work environment where these women could earn money while learning a skill and experiencing continued healing through community. Working in partnership with the City Rescue Mission, Rethreaded hired its first full-time employee in November 2012.

Since 2012, Rethreaded has directly helped 40 women through providing jobs in Jacksonville, Florida. Globally, Rethreaded has positively impacted the lives of over 4,000 women through our import company.

The Grace Scarf is the first product created by every individual entering the Rethreaded family. It is made up of individually cut strips of t-shirt that are stretched into strands. Once stretched each strand curls eliminating errors made in the cutting process, resulting in a perfect strand to add to the bundle.

Rethreaded provides a six month holistic job training program for women in the Jacksonville, Florida area who are coming out of lives of addiction, violence, human trafficking and prostitution. Many of these women leave prison with felony records which create significant challenges to employment. Rethreaded is a safe place where women are paid a living wage to become artisan seamstresses and “upcycle” donated t-shirts into beautiful creations for sale.
