Our mission is to renew hope, reignite dreams and release potential for survivors of human trafficking locally and globally through business.

Local Impact: Sewing a New Story

Rethreaded provides a three-month holistic job training program for women in Jacksonville, Florida who are coming out of lives of addiction, violence, human trafficking, and prostitution. Many of these women leave prison with felony records which create significant challenges to employment. Rethreaded is a safe place where women can earn a living wage becoming artisans who make products out of upcycled t-shirts, or pursue other career paths within the company including, marketing, administration, finance, inventory and sales.

We have directly impacted the lives of 24 women through employment in Jacksonville, Florida.

Global Impact: Supporting Freedom Businesses

Rethreaded also imports from companies that sells products made by women from all over the world. These women have found freedom from the sex trade and work with like-minded businesses to create women's accessories, men's fashions and home decor. We sell these products at our warehouse, events, seasonal home parties, and online. Our Values

As a faith-based organization, to accomplish our mission to love people affected by the sex trade, we at Rethreaded believe:

Love: Love is the transforming agent of Rethreaded. We seek to love others unconditionally, healthfully, and in a way that speaks to the source of our Love.

We believe that God is the purest source of Love. We seek to love others like God has loved us. The greatest model of love is shown through the grace, mercy, and compassion of Jesus.  We will humbly try to follow His perfect example of what perfect love tangibly looks like in a very messy world. We trust that love can guide our business and help us overcome anything that comes our way.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13 :1-13

Acceptance:  All men, women, and children have the possibility to be redeemed, healed and freed from the effects of the sex trade.

We believe that both the oppressed and the oppressor can be given a chance to “Sew a new Story.” Regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, sex, or past, whoever walks through the doors of Rethreaded will be welcome into our community. We do recognize that there will be instances where boundaries must be put in place but those will be for the safety of our employees.

Acceptance comes from knowing someone’s story. By knowing each other, we are more free to love and enter into each others lives in a healthy non-judgmental way.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”  Matthew 7:1-7

Healing: Rethreaded seeks to be safe place for emotional, spiritual and physical healing for all that come in contact with our organization.

As an organization, we will facilitate healing through our work environment, relationships, and community. However, we also recognize that as humans we are limited in what we can offer one another. Rethreaded believes that we need God in order to fully heal our hearts. We believe that Jesus has the ability to heal the deepest and darkest wound in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. We trust in the mysterious and often hidden work of Love.

Relationship: We value the power and impact of relationship in all areas of Rethreaded.

We trust that whoever comes in contact with Rethreaded can be transformed with the relationships formed within our organization.

Community: In a world that is filled with individualism, we seek to offer a radical alternative in which people can experience what it truly means to be a part of a community.

This is where our mission becomes real. Our commitment to each other will keep us knitted together when our relationship and community is at stake. We will come together in hard times, celebrate the successes, and press each other to become more of who we were created to be.

This sense of community that will be developed within Rethreaded’s own walls can then be taken and used to transform our city and our world.

Excellence: Rethreaded will seek to employ the “best practices” into all areas of our organization.

We will implement within our community the structures and processes that are based on past research and results in order to build our own model for what is possible within the realm of rehabilitation and business.
